How to prepare PNG file for Stamp or Overprint

<< Back to Sales Kit

If you can not supply a proper vector file for cover Stamp or Overprint, you can prepare a PNG file and we will convert that for you. To make the process fast and without issues please follow these instructions:

Download TEMPLATE

Select one of three sizes:

5x1” 5x2” 5x3”

Open in Photoshop or similar, add your text and/or graphics and save as PNG without any background.

Use 100% black elements

Do no gray tones, nor colors - remember, we need to trace all graphics to shapes and these shapes will be converted into a physical stamp. The only color there will be, comes from the type of the foil you select in the ordering form.

Do not use thin lines or super thin fonts

Remember that we need to make a physical stamp that needs to be pushed against the cover at great temperature and pressure. Making razor sharp die will just cut the fabric and there will be no space for color foil to adhere. In case of Overprint, there is a gluing process involved. Making too thin lines will prevent it from adhering properly to the cover.

If you wish to use hand written thin fonts, make sure you use the text tool to make the font thicker than original. It might just compensate enough.

Use high quality graphics

Pixelated designs are hard to convert to shapes. Instead clean lines, you will end up with jagged ones.

Save as PNG without background

Our tracing program will consider white background as a part of the stamp.
